Team News by Alison Goulstone

There were 4 of us who set off in 2 lorries on a hot summer's day to compete in the novice area one day event at Pontispool on 28th June. All did a respectable dressage especially Lindsey Ritson who led her section following this phase. Justine Scott and I also did very good tests although Cathy Kavanagh's Charlie, a last minute replacement for the injured Ed, took a dim view of trotting round an Intro test, preferring instead to demonstrate his flying changes and general airs above the ground.......

The showjumping was in the outdoor arena, I did an efficient clear round, Justine and Cathy both jumped well after sticky starts, Lindsey unfortunately missed the last fence which although not originally noticed, did eventually eliminate her.

Cathy's Charlie was obviously not himself so she sensibly withdrew before the cross-country; My horse Ola decided that a good dressage and showjumping round was enough for one day and declined to tackle much of the beautifully built course. Lindsey and Justine however both had storming clear rounds and came home very happy.

Unfortunately we did not have 3 completions so were eliminated but we did end the day with a very good picnic!

Many thanks to Wendy, Catherine and Emily who came to support us and help at the event, and especially to Julie Bush who organises all the team events so efficiently.

Training

Due to lack of interest in sessions being held at Widbrook, it is with regret that we can no longer afford to run training at this venue. We are currently looking at alternative venues, and would appreciate any suggestions as to suitable locations for our members. We need a 20x40 minimum sized arena, floodlights for evening training sessions, and plenty of parking.

If either you, or someone you know would be willing to hire out their facilities with or without tuition, please contact Helen Abbott.

Training is still being run at Helen Cole’s in Stockley. The sessions are run every fortnight alternating between flatwork and gridwork. Cost of training is £12.50 for members and £15.00 for non-members.

For more details and dates please visit our website, click 'here' , or contact Helen Abbott on kvrctraining@o2.co.uk (text 07590 473339).
